How Much Does a Rajasthan Trip Cost?
A practical breakdown, by trip length and travel style
Overview
Rajasthan can be done on very different budgets depending on which hotels you pick and how you travel between cities. The figures below are planning estimates, not fixed prices — the actual cost depends on your dates, group size and exactly which hotels you choose, and we confirm a firm number once we know those.
The two biggest levers are hotel category and the private car. Entry fees, food and shopping move the total by a few thousand rupees either way; the hotel tier and whether you're splitting a car across two people or six move it by a lot more.

What changes the cost
- Season
- December to February is the most comfortable weather and the most expensive — hotels and desert camps charge peak rates and the good ones sell out. March, October and November give similar weather at lower prices. Summer (April to June) is the cheapest, but very hot for sightseeing.
- Group size
- A private car is priced per day, not per person, so the per-person cost drops sharply as the group grows — a car split two ways costs far more per head than the same car split six ways.
- Hotel category
- This is the single biggest swing. A heritage haveli or palace hotel can cost five to ten times a straightforward 3-star room for the same night.
- How you cover the long legs
- The Jaisalmer–Udaipur stretch is the one place a seasonal flight, where it's running, can be worth paying for over a full day's drive — it changes both cost and how the rest of the trip is paced.
- What the route includes
- Adding Mount Abu, Ranthambore or Bundi extends the trip by a day or two each, with hotel and car costs for those extra nights on top.
Tips for sticking to a budget
- Book hotels and the desert camp as early as you can for December and January — prices rise and good properties sell out.
- A private car for the whole circuit, booked once, is usually simpler and no more expensive than arranging transport city by city.
- GST applies to the services in your quote as per Indian tax law; it's shown separately on the invoice, not hidden in the headline price.
- These figures exclude flights or trains into and out of Rajasthan — budget those separately based on where you're travelling from.
- Ask for a line-by-line quote rather than a single number, so you can see exactly where your budget is going and adjust one piece at a time.
FAQs
Is Rajasthan expensive to visit?
It can be done comfortably on a modest budget or as a high-end trip — the range is wide. A 7-day trip for two, mid-range hotels and a private car, typically lands around ₹42,000 to ₹55,000 per person, land only.
How much does a 7-day Rajasthan trip cost per person?
As a planning estimate: roughly ₹24,000 to ₹30,000 per person on a budget trip, ₹42,000 to ₹55,000 mid-range, and ₹95,000 or more for a luxury trip with heritage and palace hotels. This excludes flights to and from Rajasthan.
What's the cheapest way to see Rajasthan?
Travel in a group to split the private car cost, choose simple 3-star or guesthouse stays, and go in the shoulder months (March or October–November) rather than the December–January peak.
Does this cost include flights?
No. These are land costs only — hotels, the car, entry fees and food within Rajasthan. Flights or trains to reach Rajasthan, and any seasonal flight between Jaisalmer and Udaipur, are additional.
Does the price include GST?
The ranges here are indicative planning figures. On an actual quote, GST (and TCS for overseas add-ons, where relevant) is shown as a separate line on the invoice, as required under Indian tax law.
