Transfer to your hotel; rail pass and pocket wifi handover; evening neighbourhood walk.

Asakusa, the Sumida river, the Imperial Palace gardens and teamLab, ending on an observation deck.

Tokyo — modern city
Meiji Shrine, Harajuku and Shibuya by day; a guided Shinjuku food and izakaya walk after dark.

Mount Fuji excursion
Day trip to Kawaguchiko for the Chureito Pagoda view, a lake cruise and the Fuji Panoramic Ropeway. Return to Tokyo.

Tokyo → Kanazawa
Shinkansen to Kanazawa. Afternoon in the Higashi Chaya geisha district and a gold-leaf workshop.

Kanazawa
Kenroku-en, one of Japan's three great gardens, the Nagamachi samurai quarter, the Omicho market and the 21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art.

Kanazawa → Kyoto
Train to Kyoto via the thatched farmhouses of Shirakawa-go (seasonal). Afternoon at Kiyomizu-dera and Higashiyama.

Kyoto
Fushimi Inari, Kinkaku-ji, Ryoan-ji and Nijo Castle; an evening tea ceremony.

Nara day trip
Todai-ji, Kasuga Taisha and Nara Park's deer, returning to Kyoto.

Kyoto → Hiroshima
Shinkansen to Hiroshima. The Peace Memorial Park, museum and the A-Bomb Dome.

Miyajima
Ferry to Miyajima island for the floating torii of Itsukushima Shrine, Mount Misen and more deer. Return to Hiroshima.

Depart
Fly out of Hiroshima, or shinkansen back to Osaka / Tokyo for an international connection.
