Coorg
Coffee country in the Western Ghats
Why go
Coorg — Kodagu — is the long-weekend hill station for Bangalore and Mysore, and it earns its reputation quietly. The point of a Coorg trip is a plantation stay: a colonial-era bungalow or a modern estate villa surrounded by shade-grown coffee, with a guided estate walk to see how the beans are grown and dried. Around that, fit in Abbey Falls, the Tibetan settlement and golden temple at Bylakuppe, the elephant camp at Dubare, and the source of the Kaveri at Talakaveri.
Trip highlights
- Plantation-stay estate walk and coffee tasting

- Dubare elephant camp on the Kaveri
- Namdroling Monastery and the golden temple, Bylakuppe
