Andaman Islands
India's own Andaman Sea — white sand and a house reef
Why go
The Andamans are a proper tropical-island holiday without leaving India. Fly into Port Blair — worth a day for the Cellular Jail and its evening light-and-sound show — then ferry to Havelock (Swaraj Dweep) for Radhanagar beach, consistently rated among Asia's best, and to Neil (Shaheed Dweep) for a slower pace and the natural rock bridge. The diving and snorkelling are excellent and beginner-friendly. November to April is the season; the water is clearest February to April.
Trip highlights
- Radhanagar beach, Havelock
- Scuba diving or a first Discover Scuba dive
- Natural rock bridge and Bharatpur beach, Neil Island
